| Testing day for support today with a DOS attack and a change of nameserver in response! Congratulations on the speed you guys got on top of this: I guess it was planned for the weekend to catch you with minimum staff. The site I've been working on has been down, but after the nameserver change I expect it to be back in a few hours when the new IP has propagated. Well done guys! | I was really happy with D-H until recently - certainly a much better deal than my last host, and the one before that were hopelessly unreliable. However, there have been quite a few occasions in the last couple of months in which the server I'm on has gone down, even if only for a few minutes, it seems to happen right when I really need to get at my email! This morning the server hasn't been up at all, but I gather that's due to a ddos attack, which is most certainly out of their control, so I'll let them off this one if they get it up and running again soon. |

Hi Azurael, I don't think we can reasonably expect zero downtime for £9.99 a year! Servers, routers, the BT pipe (or its US equivalent whatever), it's all machines, they're all going to go wrong sometimes! The way I look at it, suppose I hosted my own site on my own server: running at say 100 watts, electricity price 5p a unit, that's 12p a day, 365x12/100 = £43.80 a year! Just to power the server, before I start paying for an internet connection! If I wanted zero downtime I'd need a second server as a back-up preferably at a remote location, definitely doubling my spend - it's not feasible for the money! Personally I'm stunned at what a good service DH do provide. Dave

I've now been hosting with DH for a couple of years - have just put my 9th site live and would be happy to recommend the service to my friends. It is the cheapest, most reliable package I have ever used plus the support staff are very friendly and have sorted out the few minor problems I've had extremely quickly. They even helped me figure out a problem I had with some software I was running on one of my sites which had nothing to do with the hosting itself !! Keep up the good work guys ![]() Jan

iv'e been with dream-hosting for over a year now and all i can say is brill The support is very fast , everything explained easily and with out that big headed tone that some companies give you, every step of the way they remind you your the customer and its up to us to keep you. I’ve never had any server problems ,small clitches here and there but way better than some hosting companies, and there are some real big ones out there that don’t even answer support. Software is smooth and error free, domain transfer/purchasing is seamless. price's are tops, i almost never purchased my first hosting as i thought it was a scam All i can say guy's is thanks mark

I have been on the gold package for almost 4 years now and so far i have had 1 day (yes 1 day) down time. this however was due to a server upgrade. I can find no fault with dream hosting and have nothing but praise for them. I have my own site on here and have recently added my works business site. and now a 3rd project. so i would not do that with a rubbish host now really... would i. Keep up the good work guys.
